On June 16, 2025, a regular meeting of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine's Committee on Transport and Infrastructure took place, in which I participated as a Member of Parliament. During the meeting, we considered a range of important issues that directly impact the safety and efficiency of our country's transport infrastructure.


Key Agenda Items

  1. Report of Ukrtransbezpeka for 2024 and Plans for 2025
  2. The Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety, Mykyta Lahunin, presented a detailed report on Ukrtransbezpeka’s activities in 2024 and outlined the main areas of work for 2025. Special attention was given to the efficiency of WIM systems (Weigh-In-Motion), which help preserve road infrastructure and control axle load limits on roads.
  3. Monitoring the Effectiveness of WIM Systems
  4. During the session, the Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Kostiantyn Kovalchuk, took personal control over the functioning of WIM systems. This decision will strengthen the enforcement of weight limits by carriers, a key factor in preserving the road network.
  5. Financial Audit Results of Ukrtransbezpeka for 2024
  6. The results of a financial audit conducted by the Accounting Chamber regarding Ukrtransbezpeka’s activities in 2024 were presented. The Deputy Head of the Accounting Chamber, Serhii Kliuchko, provided detailed audit data, highlighting issues in financial control and resource management within the service.

Adopted Decisions

As a result of the discussions, decisions were made to send relevant appeals to state authorities for the prompt resolution of identified issues. This includes recommendations to improve the operation of WIM systems, strengthen financial discipline within Ukrtransbezpeka, and enhance the effectiveness of state oversight in the transport sector.

The decisions made will contribute to:

  • Improving road safety through effective control of vehicle overloading.
  • Preserving infrastructure and reducing road repair costs.
  • Enhancing the transparency of state bodies in the transport sector.
